12-Year-Old Maid’s Reproductive System Damaged After Being Tortured By Her Madam [Photos]

The reproductive organs of a 12-year-old maid have been damaged after she was tortured and mutilated by her employer.

Faith Nwanja was tortured by Mrs Nkechi Bartholomew for being too stubborn. The torture left her with damaged organs and in need of plastic surgery.

The girl, who hails from Okoffia community in Ezza South Local Government Area in Ebonyi state, Nigeria, was tortured, mutilated, then eventually abandoned by her madam.

This was disclosed by the state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development on Monday, April 16, while briefing journalists on the development. It was revealed that Bartholomew, a childless woman and seamstress, adopted Nwanja and took her to Onitsha, Anambra State, when she was eight years old. There, the campaign of abuse began.

During the course of the child’s stay, Mrs Bartholomew allegedly inserted sticks inside her vagina as punishment and over time it caused serious damage to the reproductive system.

As seen in a photo shared by New Telegraph, the preteen has shocking scars and injuries all over her body, indicating the extent of torture she’s had to suffer. She has also lost one of her hands as a result of the torture she suffered.

Briefing journalists yesterday, Head of Department, Child Development of the state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Godwin Igwe said the health condition of Faith has worsened.

Godwin Igwe said:

The child was battered, dehumanized and subjected to degrading treatment by Mrs Nkechi Barth at Onitsha in February. That Child has been undergoing medical examination by team of expert gynaecologists, a team of orthopaedic doctors, a team of expert opmologists because of serious harm inflicted on her reproductive system, her hand, her ear, her teeth all over.

The woman inflicted injuries on all part of her body. Last week, her medical examination was concluded and the hospital management said the report will be released to the police as soon as it is demanded.

Igwe accused the state Police command of refusing to arraign the suspect, saying:

The woman who perpetrated the crime was arrested by the police. The police had made attempt in March to arrest the woman in Onitsha and she escaped. The woman was taken to court on Monday and she was not arraigned, she was later brought back. The police assured us that the woman will be taken to court again today(Tuesday) which they did not do.

That woman should be taken to the court of competent jurisdiction for accelerated justice because justice delayed is justice denied.

Preliminary medical reports show that the child will undergo series of plastic surgery because of part of the ear that has been chopped off, the head that has been mutilated, the mouth that has been mutilated.

Narrating her ordeal, Faith said her madam always tortures her with sticks, hot iron, stones, and other dangerous weapons for being stubborn. She also said the woman kept her from going to school, fed her only once a day, and told her that even if she kills her, she would go free.
