Edwin Castro, the California man who made headlines last February after winning the world’s largest-ever lottery prize of $2.04 billion, has suffered a devastating loss as his $25.5 million Hollywood Hills mansion was destroyed in the recent Los Angeles wildfires.

The luxury property, purchased with part of his record-breaking jackpot, featured five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and was situated above the iconic Chateau Marmont hotel.

Reports reveal that the mansion was razed only months after Castro had increased security measures for the property.

Despite the tragic loss, Castro still owns other high-value properties, including a $20.7 million mansion in West Hollywood and a home in Altadena.

The Los Angeles wildfires have left a trail of destruction, claiming homes and displacing residents, with Castro’s multimillion-dollar Malibu retreat among the casualties.
