Former Nigerian Idol winner, K-Peace, has publicly called out the organizers of the reality show for allegedly failing to deliver the promised N7.5 million cash prize and a brand-new car, despite announcing on national television that he had received them.
In an exclusive interview, K-Peace shared his struggles after emerging as the winner. He revealed that instead of receiving his grand prize, he was left stranded in Lagos without a single naira in his account, often going without food.
According to him, each time he inquired about the money and the car, the organizers kept postponing their response, repeatedly telling him they were “working on it.”
“I came out from the Nigerian Idol platform with zero naira in my account. I attended interviews on an empty stomach, walking all over Lagos without food in my belly,” he lamented.
Speaking on the supposed grand prize, he further disclosed:
“They announced N7.5 million as the grand prize, but as time passed, I kept asking when the money would be credited and when I’d get the car. They kept pushing it forward.”
“They claimed they were still branding the car. Meanwhile, they announced on national TV that I won N7.5 million, a car, and a two-week trip to Dubai, but I was going through hell.”
Social Media Reactions
K-Peace’s revelation has sparked an outcry, with many expressing concern over the alleged lack of transparency in Nigerian reality shows:
@Eddyid8: “I wonder why they wouldn’t keep their promise. I remember one girl complaining after leaving BBN, but I don’t even remember her name.”
@Jaiyejejeomo: “This is the case with most reality shows in Nigeria. FAKE FAKE FAKE! More ways to launder money. Happy Sunday to those who don’t know how things work in Nigeria.”
@iamMista_jay: “I’ve always said that some of these competitions put contestants under unnecessary pressure. The pressure to succeed and maintain a celebrity status you can’t afford. Fame comes with a price, but you shouldn’t be the one paying for it.”
@reeham440: “BBN is literally doing the same thing. Everyone in this country is a scammer.”
@ShayDee59559361: “Make una no blame them, na Nigeria we dey. A crocodile might have swallowed the money.”
