2019 Election: Tension In APC As The Outcome Of The Closed Door Meeting Between Obasanjo And PDP Leaks To The Entire Universe.

There were mixed feelings in the camp of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, on Friday night as a chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, held a closed-door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo ahead of 2019.

The meeting, which lasted for about an hour, held at the former President’s Hilltop Mansion in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital was at the instance of the Former Governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel.

After he emerged from the meeting, Daniel told journalists that he came to consult and solicit Obasanjo’s support ahead of his formal declaration of intention to run for the office.

The former governor is expected to declare his intention for the PDP chairmanship position in Abuja next Wednesday.

He said, “I came to consult with Baba Obasanjo and seek his advice regarding my ambition to run for the office of the National Chairman of the PDP. I cannot make any move in that direction without Baba’s input.

“Baba is one of the foundation members of the party and we can’t move without him.”

The former governor said the PDP was now united and being rejuvenated to make it a party to beat both in Ogun State and at the federal level.

“We are now united. You can see all of us are here. We have realised that united we stand, divided we fall,” he said.
