Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor, has warned those who insist on taking the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that it will purge them.
Wike made this statement while speaking at the inauguration of the Emohua campus of Rivers State University and the flag-off of staff quarters.
Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State Governor, performed the commission of the project on Wednesday.
Wike said the day of reckoning is coming, and nobody can silence him from speaking against such injustice.
The governor said the day of reckoning is coming when such persons would account for every wrong thing they have done.
He said, “That is why I am telling the people there, look, it cannot work. You can’t take everything. If you take everything, it will purge you. So you better do the right thing now.
“Don’t sit there and think that you can muscle me and you can do everything; you can manipulate anything. You can think you have the number to make sure you take everything, but the time is coming when you will account for it.”
Recall that Wike has been at loggerheads with PDP leadership after he failed to secure the party’s presidential ticket and become the vice presidential candidate.
Also recall that there has been speculation that Wike might leave the PDP following his fallout with Abubakar Atiku, who defeated him to clinch the PDP ticket in May.
While performing the inauguration ceremony, Makinde referred to the recent statement credited to the PDP national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, who said those calling for his resignation were still children when he and others founded the party.
Makinde said, “If children are doing all of these, I think what Nigeria needs are children. So, my brother Wike, you can be assured that Nigeria appreciates you.
