2026 World Cup Qualifiers: South African team allegedly stranded at Port Harcourt airport

Recent reports suggest that South Africa’s national football team and coaching staff had to stay overnight in Port Harcourt instead of traveling to Uyo for their 2026 FIFA World Cup match against Nigeria.

The team arrived in Port Harcourt from Johannesburg on Wednesday night, June 5.

They couldn’t fly to Uyo as the airport had already closed by their scheduled departure time.

The team is now planning to travel to Uyo on Thursday morning for the match against the Super Eagles at 8pm on Friday.
