203 Polls: ADP House of Rep Candidate Accused Party Chair, Sec Of Submitting’s Fake Death Notice To INEC

Musa Mohammed Ali, the House of Representatives candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) for the Nasarawa federal constituency of Kano State in the 2023 general election, has demanded an apology from the party’s national secretary, Victor Fingesi, and national chairman, Engr. Sani Yabagi, for allegedly sending an erroneous death notice about him to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) despite knowing full well that he was still alive.

Upon being asked to respond to the accusations made against him over the phone, the national chairman of the ADP, however, stated that he was unable to speak and that a text message should be provided to him.

He received a text message about the accusation against him, as required, but as of the time this was filed, he had not replied.

Meanwhile, in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP on Friday in Abuja and signed by Musa Mohammed Ali, he alleged that “following a letter dated 1st November 2022, the National Chairman of Action Democratic Party (ADP) and National Secretary, Victor Fingesi forwarded to the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) entitled, ‘NOTICE OF DEATH CANDIDATE IN KANO STATE AND PRIMARIES FOR REPLACEMENT,’”

He had been left heartbroken, devastated, and traumatized by the outpouring of condolences from friends and relatives both inside and outside of Kano State and the nation since the ADP leaders’ announcement of his alleged death, which also had a negative impact on his campaign for the House of Representatives seat in Kano State’s Nasarawa Constituency.

He said, “It has been one year of grief, pain and sorrow as some people see me as a ghost and wondering if I am alive. On 31st August 2022, I swore an affidavit at the High Court Kano, ‘That I did NOT and will NEVER WITHDRAWAL MY CANDIDATURE.’ I am still alive and capable to be elected as Kano member Federal House of Representatives”.

“I also wrote the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission dated 31st August 2022, which was acknowledged on 4th October 2022,” he added.

He said that his party’s national chairman, Engr. Yabagi Sani, and national secretary, Victor Fingesi, wrote INEC announcing his death despite knowing full well that he was still alive and, more crucially, having actively campaigned for the House of Representatives election. This was inconceivable, disgusting, reckless, and wicked.

“It’s outrageous, I am yet to recover from this man’s inhumanity to man and the agony it inflicted on my family which has affected my business. This transactional politics, politics of deceit and politics with bitterness must stop. It is a betrayal of confidence I reposed in the ADP National chairman, Engr. Yabagi Sani, until recently the National Chairman of Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC). The need for responsible and honest leadership cannot be overemphasized,” he said.

Further more, he said, “Accordingly, I demand within three days a public apology published in five national newspapers and withdrawal of the offensive letter to INEC, or face legal action. It is time to hold political leaders accountable as those who go to equity must go with clean hands.

It is unfair, unjust and cruel for my Party National Chairman and National Secretary to conspire and forge National Population Commission’s certificate of death claiming that my death was recorded on 28th October 2022, at Nasarawa Local Government Area, Kano State same day I purportedly died.

“In the worst act of perjury, Engr. Yabagi Sani and Victor Fingesi forged an affidavit issued by the High court, Kano State deposed to by one Idi Muhammad who claimed to be my uncle that I died on 3rd July 2022, at home as a result of illness. The affidavit was dated 24th July 2022. I call on the Inspector General of Police and Director General, Department of State Services to thorough investigate this forgery and perjury by the ADP National Chairman and National Secretary and prosecute them to face the full weight of the law,” he added.

“An injustice to one person is injustice to all. Nigeria needs God-fearing leaders not those who wish their party members and fellow compatriots dead for their insatiable political ambition and personal aggrandizement,” he added.
