A fresh accident on Otedola Bride has left nine people injured, barely 18 hours after the tanker explosion that killed nine persons and razed no fewer than 54 vehicles.
According to Punch Nigeria, the accident was as a result of a head-on collision involving a commercial bus, popularly called danfo, with registration number: LSD 65 XQ, and a white Toyota Hiace bus, with registration number: AAA 926 XU.
It was gathered that the incident happened on Friday when the commercial bus, which was said to be speeding and driving against traffic, collided with the Toyota Hiace bus, which was entering Lagos.
The passenger door of the commercial bus fell off while a passenger inside it could be seen writhing in pain.
The Lagos State Deputy Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Olalekan Morakinyo, told our correspondent that out of the 22 persons involved in the accident, nine persons, comprising eight males and one female sustained varying degrees of injury.
He said the officers of the corps, who were still at the scene of the previous accident, rescued the victims and took them to the hospital.
He said, “Fortunately, our men were already around that place. Twenty people were involved and nine people were injured; eight males and one female. Nobody died in the accident. The injured persons were taken to the Accident and Emergency Centre.
“One of the drivers drove against traffic, which led to a collision. That is why we always warn drivers to desist from driving against traffic. It’s an offence and it could put lives at risk, such as we had in this case.”
Also on Friday afternoon, a truck carrying crates of alcoholic beverages fell on the roadside of the Kara end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, close to a popular filling station before the Kara Bridge.
