Three soldiers have been taken into custody by Operation Desert Sanity troops in Maiduguri, Borno State, on suspicion of stealing ammunition.

Our correspondent was informed by a military source that one of the soldiers was going to Abuja and the other two were going to Markudi.
It was said that one of the soldiers had hidden the ammunition inside a rice bag.
The source said, “On December 2, troops conducted a convert operations at motor parks and along Njimtilo Road at Njimtilo, three soldiers were arrested. One was en route to Makurdi with 250 rounds of 7.62 MM.
“Another en route to Makurdi was arrested with four fully-loaded magazines and 110 rounds concealed in a mudu of rice.
“The last soldier was going to Abuja. He was arrested with 14 rounds of 7.62MM. The suspects are in custody for further investigation. “
Maj. Gen. Buba Edward, Director of Defence Media Operations, was not available for comment because his line was unanswered when calls were placed. As of the time this report was filed, he had also not replied to a message that had been sent to him on the situation.
