Nerus Elemamba, a 30-year-old graduate of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede in Owerri, Imo State, allegedly committed suicide.
The young man’s body was discovered dangling in his chamber on Monday evening, in his birthplace of Umuohii, Obaoma village, Ezinihitte-Mbaise Local Government Area of the state.
According to sources, Elemamba participated in the village’s arduous labour with his friends before returning home and hanging himself.
According to the source, the deceased did not exhibit signs of melancholy before to committing suicide and was joyful while working with his age group.
“Elemamba actively participated in village activities and cracked jokes with his peers as usual. No one knows for sure what prompted him to take his own life because he participated in the village manual labour in the morning. It is quite surprising that Nerus, who was hale and hearty, could hang himself just few hours after work,” he said.
The source further stated that the occurrence has caused confusion and panic in the town, as the cause of the graduate’s death must be determined before his funeral.
