Four people were killed in a clash that was thought to be cult-related on Sunday night by an unspecified number of suspected cultists who invaded the Ijagba Sagamu neighborhood of Ogun State.

As reported by numerous eyewitnesses, the group invaded Ijagba Street next to a mosque in the neighborhood on Sunday and shot two people, according to multiple accounts.

The two victims, who were both reportedly shot in the head, were later identified by the state police as Olasunkanmi Ajayi and an unnamed woman.

Under the condition of anonymity, an eyewitness told PUNCH Metro that the son of the woman who was shot in the head had stopped the police from taking her body to the hospital.

Empty cartridges were found at the crime scene, a source in the state police command told our correspondent.

Another altercation broke out when two alleged Aiye confraternity members shot two people dead as the police team led by Area Commander of Sagamu, Shehu Alao, was working to restore peace in the neighborhood.

At least two arrests had been made, according to Omolola Odutola, the state police public relations officer, who confirmed the incident to PUNCH Metro on Monday. She also stated that Abiodun Alamutu, the commissioner of police, was on the scene to assess the situation.
