Four individuals, including security personnel, have allegedly been slain by unidentified gunmen in the Aguluzigbo community in the Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The PUNCH learned that on Tuesday early, the as-yet-unidentified thugs broke into the neighborhood and began firing.
However, this resulted in intense gunfire between them and local security personnel.
The gunfight, which began in the morning, reportedly continued for several hours and caused panic in the neighborhood.
Social media users are currently trending videos from the site, which further validated the incident.
DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police public relations officer, acknowledged the occurrence when approached about the development, although he stated that specifics were still hazy.
Ikenga said, “Yes. There was a shooting incident between some gunmen and security operatives at the Aguluzigbo community this morning.
“The information is still sketchy for now and any further details will be available when we get the true pictures of what happened. But our men are currently on top of the situation.”
