6 Must Have Gaming Accessories

Gaming is one of the best ways to kill time nowadays, and there are hundreds of ways to improve the overall experience. These are some must-have accessories that can dramatically change how anyone enjoys their games or make their gaming room more comfortable.

Covers, Skins and Wraps – Console Customisation

Regardless of the console, everyone can agree that the options in colours and design are usually very limited. The PS5 and Xbox Series S are mostly found in white, the Xbox Series X in black, and the Nintendo Switch in grey with blue and red joycons.

Fortunately, there are ways to customise each console and give it a personal touch. The PS5 has official covers in different colours, changing the console’s appearance completely. Some unofficial ones, like the Dbrand, even add another air vent that can help keep it cooler.

The Xbox Series X doesn’t have official covers, but it does have wraps in three available designs, one of which features Starfield for those who want to turn their console into a space console.

As for Switch owners, the hybrid doesn’t have any official accessories to change the console’s colour, but it does have other options like custom cases, docks, and even micro SDs themed with their iconic franchises like Mario, Zelda, and Animal Crossing.

There are also unofficial vinyl cases, but these can be a bit tricky to put on the console, so those who are interested should first watch a video to avoid messing up any of the parts.

Backbone Controller

Playing on mobile has changed significantly in the last decades, with games becoming more complex and phones having bigger screens. It’s easy for anyone to enjoy a new crash game called Aviatrix, but some others might require a little extra.

A backbone controller is perfect for those who don’t want to carry a regular controller everywhere. The concept is simple, the user attaches the phone to a dock with the buttons on each side, giving a similar look to the Nintendo Switch.

Although it might seem like a small change, using this controller erases any need for button prompts, giving the user more space to see what’s happening on the screen. It can even be used to hold the phone and watch the latest season of BBNaija or other shows while in bed.

RGB Lighting

RGB Lighting is the perfect way to decorate any gaming room. It not only gives the user a wide variety of colours to choose from, but it also uses less energy than the usual bulbs, helping to save some money.

The easiest way to install RGB lights in any gaming room is by using RGB strips. These cables can be attached to the monitor or TV and then controlled through software to change the colour of the lights. Some even react dynamically to what happens to the screen!

RGB Mouse Pad

Besides the lights around the screen, another good way to add RGB to the room is by using an RGB Mouse Pad. These are usually pretty big and entirely black, so they can help concentrate while working or gaming and illuminate the surroundings around the gaming setup.

Docks for Controllers and Headsets

Some people simply leave their controllers and headsets near the console, and that’s fine. But if there are too many of them, it might be a good idea to consider buying a proper dock.

These accessories are often overlooked, but they can help organise the room and give it a more professional look, especially if the user has many different controllers or frequently plays with other people in their home.

Some decks, like the PlayStation ones, can even charge the DualShock 4 and the DualSense, making them perfect for those who prefer to play wireless. They can easily swap controllers and let the other one charge.

Don’t Forget About Decorations

Nothing expresses love better than a good poster or figure, and the gaming world is full of both. Depending on the game, some figures might be harder to obtain than others, but some, like the Funko pops, are usually pretty cheap and perfect to start decorating.

There are no wrong choices regarding posters, although it’s worth mentioning that some gamers like to frame the poster and add RGB cables so everyone can see it when they enter the room.
