Six people were reportedly killesd by terrorists on Tuesday night in the Takanai community of the Atyap Chiefdom in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
A mother was killed and two of her children were abducted in an attack that was launched in Kaura just five days prior to this one.
Samson Markus, the community’s acting secretary to the district head, confirmed the tragic occurrence to The PUNCH on Wednesday. He said the terrorists entered the hamlet at 7:00pm and started shooting, killing four persons in one property and two in another family.
He claimed that the horrific assault also claimed the lives of two youngsters.
“We were going about our normal businesses when we heard gunshots, we thought it was the military at first until we saw it was the Fulanis who came in from Zango Urban,” Markus alleged.
“Before the military arrived, they’ve succeeded in killing six persons, including 2 children.
“The arrival of the military was what scared them, and they took to their hills and left the community.
“It’s unfortunate this kind of sad incident continues to happen in our villages when we thought normalcy had returned.
“We appealed to the government and the military to redouble their efforts and declare war against these terrorists who invaded villages and killed innocent people,” Markus added.
The Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Jalige, did not respond to calls put to him by our correspondent at the time of filling this report.
