Popular Nigerian author cum Reno Omokri has reacted to the assertion of Clergywoman Funke Felix-Adejumo about how wealthy people should treat their friends who are not wealthy.
When people learn they are the wealthiest in their circle, Clergywoman Funke Felix-Adejumo believes they should move on from friendships and partnerships.
This was the clergywoman’s point of view when she spoke at a recent church program.
According to her, if one finds himself in a midst of people who are not wealthy, he should abscond that group of people and start mingling with other wealthy people.
Her assertion however didn’t side well with the former Presidential aide, he took to the microblogging platform to react. In a series of tweets, Reno iterated that it will be unwise for a wealthy person to abandon his poor friends, he also backed his claims with some quotes from the scriptures.
He wrote:
If we abandon all our friends that we are richer than, what should our friends who are richer than us do to us? We thank God Christ did not abandon us. Let me quote a Scripture to that woman-“Do not be proud, but enjoy the company of the lowly”-Romans 12:16.
Money should not be a prerequisite for friendship. That is why David said “I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.”-Psalm 84:10. With such a mentality, people will befriend the rich fool and avoid poor Lazarus!
If 9 men have COVID and you hang around them, you will be the 10th one. It applies to almost everything, including:
Wealth
Poverty
Drugs
If 9 cold cups surround a hot cup, you will end up with 10 cold cups.
If we start unfriending those we are richer than, people like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Aliko Dangote would end up without friends. And I for one would prefer a life without money to a life without friends. Love is better than profit!
