As the Lagos State Election Petitions Tribunal prepares to rule on petitions challenging the election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, security has been stepped up at the Roseline Omotosho Courthouse in Ikeja.
The petitions were submitted by Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Abdulazeez Adediran, also known as Jandor, who were running for governor of the state as the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the March 18 election.
Security personnel took control of the courthouse’s main entrance and screened visitors before allowing them entry.
Security personnel stopped a number of people from entering the building.
Adediran claimed in his petition that the governor had given the Independent National Electoral Commission a fake West African school certificate.
Adediran also charged Lagos deputy governor Kadri Hazmat with omitting an oath declaration from the INEC Nomination Form EC9.
Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat were not nominated by the APC in accordance with the Electoral Act, he continued.
In his petition, Rhodes-Vivour also questioned Hazmat’s eligibility to run, claiming that he had allegedly renounced his Nigerian citizenship and sworn allegiance to the United States of America.
