Nine alleged criminal elements who were terrorizing the state’s residents have been detained by the Kogi State Police command.
This information was revealed yesterday at a press conference in Lokoja, the state capital, by CP Bethrand Onuoha, the state commissioner of police.
He said that in Onicha-Igo and Ofu LGA of Kogi state, two suspects named ThankGod Joseph and Monday Matthew were apprehended along with five jerry cans of stolen palm oil, cutlasses, three dane guns, one short gun, one single barrel rifle, and many charms.
The command also detained three individuals for culpable homicide and false alarm: Haruna Adamu, Yakubu Mohammed, and Harisu Abdulrasheed.
In another event, the police reported recovering three Peugeot 206 and 406 cars from suspected car snatchers who have been robbing innocent individuals of their possessions, as well as one AK-47 gun with live ammunition from suspected kidnappers.
CP Onuoha promises residents and people of a continuous campaign against crime and criminal elements in the state while requesting more public cooperation.
He said “there is no Police agency anywhere in the world, no matter how well-trained, equipped or motivated can solely achieve its safety mandate without the support from the public. I urge all Kogites particularly, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, market bodies, farmers, hunters, National Union of Road Transport Workers, Okada Union, and Tricycle Union among others to give us their maximum support in fight against criminals especially kidnappers, armed robbers, cultist amongst others.”
