The All Progressives Congress chapter in Jigawa State has suspended Saleh Idris, the party’s chairman in the Roni Local Government Area, over claims that he raped and impregnated his 14-year-old housemaid.

Idris had been remanded due to the allegation by a Chief Magistrate’s Court in the state capital of Dutse.
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps reportedly detained Idris on October 4 in response to a complaint from the victim’s brother.
