Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has approved the release of N3-1 billion for the payment of gratuity for retirees and death benefits for families of the deceased under the Defined Benefit Scheme and the Contributory Pension Scheme.
The state government claimed that the change was in line with Governor Sani’s commitment to lessening the hardships experienced by the elderly, who are among the most vulnerable citizens of the state.
In a statement, the governor’s chief press secretary, Muhammad Lawal Shehu, said that Governor Sani was still committed to making sure that upon retirement, employees who had faithfully served Kaduna State had full access to what was rightfully theirs.
“The Kaduna State Government is steadfast in ensuring that these payments for gratuity and death benefits to beneficiaries in the state continue to be made, through the State Pension Bureau. “
“The release of these funds will help to lessen the effects that the current economic situation is having on everyone, especially on the elderly who have retired from active duty. In the upcoming days, the State Pension Bureau will make public the complete list and information regarding beneficiaries, it was added.
