The Israeli army reports that during the course of the night, it killed “dozens of terrorists” in the Gaza Strip.
“Over the past day, there were numerous attempted attacks on IDF troops from tunnel shafts and military compounds in the northern Gaza Strip,” the IDF said on Saturday morning.
Israeli soldiers killed the terrorists, found weapons by Hamas and uncovered tunnel shafts “used for terrorist purposes,” according to the statement.
Along with demolishing “three Hamas observation posts,” Israeli tanks engaged in combat with fifteen combatants, killing a number of Hamas members.
The IDF, meanwhile, carried out a targeted raid overnight in southern Gaza “to map out buildings and neutralize explosive devices.
“During the operation, the troops encountered a terrorist cell exiting a tunnel shaft.
“In response, the troops fired shells toward the terrorists and killed them.”
Israel announced its intention to destroy the Palestinian extremist group Hamas after its members brutally attacked Israeli cities bordering Gaza on October 7, killing 1,400 people and kidnapping 249 more.
Israel then started to advance on foot into Gaza while heavily bombarding the coastal strip from the air.Over 9,200 Palestinians have lost their lives in Gaza since the beginning of the conflict, according to the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry.
Israel, the EU, and the US all classify Hamas, which controls the heavily populated, walled-off coastal region, as a terrorist organization.
