Adamawa State Police Command reported that its personnel gunned down two suspected kidnappers and recovered four Ak-47 rifles, chains and charms.
In a statement released on Tuesday in Yola, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), disclosed this.
The kidnappers who were killed, according to Nguroje, were part of a criminal gang that operated throughout the states of Taraba, Adamawa, Gombe, Yobe, and the Cameroon Republic.
He said that the operation was conducted in concert with hunters by command personnel assigned to Crack Squad.
“The outcome of these successes follow-up on collaborative strategies, designed by the command to checkmate cases bordering on kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling, unlawful possession of firearms,” he said.
He said security commanders of sister agencies were involved in the newly designed security rings around some identified hideouts of the kidnappers.
“The suspected kidnappers upon sighting our men engaged them in a fierce gun duel as a result two (2) of them were neutralised, while others escaped with bullet wounds.
“Interestingly (4) AK-47 rifles, 92 rounds of live ammunition were recovered,” the statement said.
