The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended three people for supposedly robbing the students of Gateway Polytechnic Sapaade, Ogun State.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, revealed this to PUNCH Online in an interview on Friday.
Two students were reported killed and numerous others injured in a series of robberies that occurred at the institution between late November and early December of last year.
The administration of the school reportedly ordered the pupils to miss two weeks of class and suspended physical education as a result of these attacks.
In the meantime, Yahaya Muhammad, Marasa Aliu, and Musa Adamu were taken into custody by the police in relation to the January 8, 2024, break-in at a residence belonging to some students in the Obalande neighborhood of Isara Remo.
According to information obtained by Gistlover, the police retrieved a 3 kg cylinder and around three mattresses that were thought to have been taken from the students’ flat.
Speaking about the arrest, the police spokeswoman said that following the break, some students found their apartments broken into and that belongings like their refrigerator had been taken, among other things.
“The students just returned from holidays and discovered that their apartment had been broken into. There was a reported case of some stolen items. Our investigation led us to the arrest of Adamu and two other suspects in the crime,” Odutola said.
Prior to the most recent arrest, robberies and killings that occurred in the school in late November and early December of last year resulted in the apprehension of at least eight alleged robbers.
