So Sad: Minutes After Winning Man of the Match, Nigerian Footballer Dies in Auto Crash
Chinedu Udoji who was former Enyimba FC captain died in the accident last night, while heading back to Kano Pillars club house
Nigerian footballer and Kano Pillars defender, Chinedu Udoji, who reportedly won the man of the match following his impressive performance yesterday, reportedly died in an auto-crash after the match.
It was gathered that the Nigerian footballer, who was former Enyimba FC captain died in the accident last night while heading back to the Pillars club house, after the NPFL Week 9 match against his former club Enyimba, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Nigerian Monitor in 2017, did a compilation of 8 Nigerian football legends who died on the pitch and they are as follows;
1.) Entourans Intachor – collapsed and died while playing for Al Mereik
2.) Samuel Okwaraji – Collapsed and died while playing for Nigeria against Angola
3.) Emmanuel Ogoli – Collapsed on the pitch while playing for Ocean boys F.C
4.) Endurance Idahor – Collapsed while playing for club side, Al-Merreikh. Died in the ambulance.
5.) Chinonso Ihelwere Henry – Collapsed while playing for Delta Turcea
6.) Bobsam Elejiko – Collapsed and died while playing for K. Merksem S.C.
7.) Orobosan Adun – Warri Wolves
8.) Shetemi Ayetigbo – Died while playing for dublin club, Belvedere
9.) David Oniya – Collapsed three minutes into a match while playing for T-Team
10.) John Ikoroma – Collapsed on the pitch and later died in the hospital while playing for Al Wahda,
11.) Michael Umanika – Collapsed during a training session with club, Khazar Lankaran
12.) Victor Omogbehin – Played for Ilford F.C. He died while attending the funeral of a friend.
