Former US President Donald Trump was swiftly taken off stage by Secret Service officials during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania after reports of shooting from the audience.
Trump seemed to have been hurt, with obvious blood on his ear and cheek, before being escorted to his vehicle. His destination and condition are unknown, since his representative has not spoken.
The event took place two days before the Republican National Convention, when Trump is set to accept his party’s presidential nomination.
President Joe Biden, uninformed of the circumstances, was on vacation at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. When questioned by a reporter whether he had been briefed on the situation with former President Trump. “No” was his response.
The White House has not issued a remark on the subject either.
