"I wasted years trying to prove I’m a good person" – Says Toke Makinwa

Toke Makinwa, a Nigerian TV presenter and event host, has admitted that she regrets some actions and decisions in her life.

Makinwa claims she spent years trying to prove she’s a good person, but now that she knows better, she won’t do it again.

She mentioned this in an Instagram post, noting that begging for one’s worth to be recognized in marriage, at work, or in friendships will never work.

The media celebrity went on to say that she does not need to persuade anyone to cooperate with her because it is their problem if they do not.

Makinwa wrote: “Not just in marriage alone, In Friendships, Work relationships, or any kind of association, Begging for your value to be seen or appreciated will never work. May you never have to beg people or prove your value to anyone. If they don’t see it, let them go.

“I don’t need to convince you to see reasons to be in my life or work with me, If you don’t see it, that’s on you and it is not a question of it not being good enough too.

“I’m at a point in my life where I’ve wasted years trying to prove I’m a good person, Not anymore. I’ll happily set you free.”

In related news, oke Makinwa, a media celebrity, has responded to a Twitter user who attacked her personally, calling her childless for speaking out against those stealing and damaging property during the ongoing national demonstrations.

Makinwa had voiced her dissatisfaction on Twitter, now known as X, after peaceful protests against hunger and poverty in Nigeria tuned violent, resulting in property damage and robbery.

In her tweet, Makinwa stated, “Destroying properties and stealing from your fellow Nigerians who are passing through the same hardship is not right at all. This is very sad.”

However, Odumeje Catacrism, a Twitter user, responded with a personal attack, citing Makinwa’s reported difficulties with having a child and her previous relationships.

He wrote:

“Baby girl, this is why you have tried IVF 2 times, and non has worked. This is why you have snatched so many of your girlfriends’ men, and none has stuck by you; this consistent need to be a classist and a bully while you come from a low class yourself and understand the struggle”.

Makinwa quickly responded, addressing the user’s offensive statements. She highlighted that being labeled as childless would have no effect on her standing and that she was not to blame for his problems. Makinwa also mocked the user, hoping he would attain half of what she has achieved in life.

In her words:

“I hope you get to achieve half of what I have achieved. Calling me childless will not change your current situation, no be me, do you?”.
