Popular Tanzanian Bongo Flava Singer Mandojo Is Dead

Well-known Tanzanian Bongo Flava artist Mandojo has passed away.

He was killed on Sunday, August 11, 2024, after being wrongly accused of theft.

Musician Soggy Doggy shared the news on social media, saying, “I am deeply hurt. I will really miss you, my brother and friend.”

“Rest in peace. Mandojo, surely human life is very short on this earth. Sorry brothers, relatives and friends and I’m very sorry my brother @domokayatz God’s work has no mistakes.”

His colleague Domo Kaya also paid tribute in a post, saying: “Daaaah MY SON I don’t believe the 22nd of this month is supposed to be your birthday Aisee why! This is so sad. Rest in peace. may God give you eternal light, friend, brother.”

Mandojo was tragically killed just days before his birthday.

He is known for his hit tracks like Nikupe and Dingi.

In other news, During an Instagram interactive session with followers, Afrobeat singer Asake explained why he prefers to sing in Yoruba.

He mentioned that he can sing in English but prefers to express himself in Yoruba.

Asake emphasized that those who do not appreciate his music in Yoruba should stop listening entirely.

He said: “I am more comfortable singing in Yoruba, it’s not that I can’t sing in English. If you fvck with me, fvck with me with my Yoruba. If not, then don’t”.

All three of Asake’s CDs, “Mr Money With The Vibes,” “Work of Art,” and “Lungu Boy,” have primarily Yoruba lyrics.

Despite the fact that it is primarily sung in Yoruba, his hit song “Amapiano” received a Grammy Award nomination.
