OPC leader, Dele Olorunfemi, in police custody over alleged student murder
The police in Ekiti State have arrested a chieftain of the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC in Ikere-Ekiti, Dele Olorunfemi, over the murder of a student, Faramo Tope.
The deceased, said to be a student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka campus in the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, was killed at about 9.30 pm on Wednesday by bullets allegedly fired by some OPC men led by Olorunfemi.

The men fled the scene immediately they realised the corpse was dead, but before then they decided to dump his body behind College Demonstration School.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the deceased was a passenger to a commercial motorcyclist who witnessed the killing. The motorcyclist was reported to have informed the police at the Anaye Police Station in Uro Quarters of the town, about the killing.
He said:
‘Though I wasn’t there when the incident happened, but I heard it was the bike man that reported the incident to the police. Otherwise the OPC people would have gone free. It was not certain hat ensued between them, but they were stopped by the OPC boys and people that were there at that time said after a short argument, they heard gunshot and everybody fled the scene’
The report of the alleged murder led to the arrest of Olorunfemi, who was detained at the station before he was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.

Confirming the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abdullahi Chafe, said one person had been arrested in connection with the murder. And his men will swing into action immediately to arrest other perpetrators of the evil act.
Chafe said,
“I can confirm that such an incident occurred, one person has been arrested and he will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigations.
The corpse has been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital, along Ise Road, Ikere-Ekiti
