In a sermon that got people talking in his church and online, Nigerian pastor U.O Miracle expressed his thoughts on the importance of tithing in Christianity.

He explained to his congregation that not paying tithes won’t prevent them from going to heaven, but it could affect their position in heaven and their financial situation on earth.

He comforted those who don’t give tithes by saying they can still attain heaven, but their spiritual experience might be filled with challenges and discomfort.

Citing the story of Lazarus, the poor man who reached heaven, Pastor Miracle mentioned that Lazarus arrived “with his dirty body” and without any privileges.

“If you don’t pay your tithe, you will go to heaven but in a Lazarus style. You’ll be very poor in this world but you will go to heaven. If you’re a tither, you will go in Abraham’s pattern. Lazarus went to heaven as a poor man with his body already eaten by worms, and had sore on his body,” he stated.
