British-Nigerian best-selling author and content creator Toni Omotola Adenlé, professionally recognized as Toni Tone, has recently shared an amusing case of mistaken identity.
Renowned for her acclaimed book, I Wish I Knew This Earlier: Lessons on Love, Toni Tone recounted an incident where a hotel in the UK confused her with the well-known Nigerian media figure, actress, and photographer Gbemi Anthonia Adefuye, commonly referred to as Toni Tones.
In a post on her Instagram story, the author, who attended the London premiere of the movie Wicked featuring Ariana Grande and others, described the extravagant welcome she received from the hotel where she was staying.
The hotel went above and beyond by displaying photographs of the author in her room, unaware that the images were actually of actress Toni Tones, who shares her name.
Toni Tone, appearing unfazed by the mix-up, expressed in her lighthearted post that she appreciates the gesture and finds it endearing. She also shared a screenshot of the printed photographs.
Toni Tone wrote:
“Thought this was a cute touch until I realized that it wasn’t me, and they printed photos of the wrong Toni. This is a Nollywood actress called Gbemi, who goes by the name Toni ToneS with an S. It’s the thought that counts, I guess.”
