Founder of Love World (Christ Embassy), Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has spoken out about the departure of several well-known gospel artists, including Sinach, Joe Praize, Frank Edwards, Eben, and others, from his ministry.
These singers began their music careers within Christ Embassy before eventually moving on. Many reports suggested that their exits were due to restrictions on ministering outside the church.
For example, as Sinach’s international career flourished, her presence at Christ Embassy reportedly became less frequent, which was said to have displeased Pastor Chris. Allegedly, he asked her to return and resume active participation in the church’s music ministry, but she declined.
Pastor Chris Speaks Out
In a now-viral video, Pastor Oyakhilome explained that he stopped working with these artists because they were no longer focused on celebrating God.
He noted that he had tried to correct them, but when they refused to align with his vision, they parted ways.
His Statement:
“Why did this happen? The church was turning into a place of entertainment rather than a house of prayer where God’s word was truly celebrated. These singers were not winning souls; they led praise but left when it was time for prayers. The music in the church started to change—it became worldly. They performed for themselves, celebrated themselves instead of God, and even began charging fees for their singing. They became professionals who made money from the church, and many pastors did not realize that this was how the world was creeping into the church.
“Initially, I celebrated them, but when I made a shift toward a different direction, they refused to change with me. That’s when I had to let them go. God was speaking to me, showing me this was not the right path. I told them the Lord wanted us to do things the right way, but they had become too focused on their newfound popularity and financial gains. They didn’t want to follow me anymore, so they chose a different path. I hope they find their way back and repent because they are no longer worship leaders.”
Mixed Reactions from the Public
Pastor Chris’ remarks have sparked discussions online, with some supporting his stance while others argue that gospel artists should have the freedom to expand their ministries beyond their home church.
The situation continues to generate debate, with many awaiting responses from the gospel artists mentioned.
