A year following the tragic loss of Dr. Herbert Wigwe, the former Group CEO of Access Holdings Plc, his 90-year-old father, Shyngle Wigwe, has taken legal action against his daughter, Tochi Wigwe, over his assets.

Reports from last October indicated that Pastor Shyngle Wigwe’s family had a hidden stake in the inheritance of the late banker’s children and allegedly sought to change Herbert Wigwe’s will to disinherit them. The family has denied these claims vigorously.

A caveat against the late banker’s will was posted online. Christian Chukwuka Wigwe, claiming to be a cousin, filed it for the deceased’s father, Pastor Shyngle Wigwe.

The filing at the Probate Registry regarding the estate caused the family, particularly Pastor Shyngle Wigwe, to revise their earlier denials. They later remarked, “We have withdrawn the suit. Our focus was on the welfare of the children.”

The media reported today that the court ruling revealed the family was dishonest about dropping their lawsuit regarding the distribution of the late banker’s estate. This case now includes 26-year-old Miss Otutochi Channel Wigwe, the daughter of the late Herbert Wigwe, along with Uche Wigwe and Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede.

The court has protected the children from the claims made by the Wigwe family, stating that Pastor Shyngle Wigwe and Christian Chukwuka Wigwe have “no right to seek the reliefs” they requested.

It is important to note that Herbert Wigwe, aged 57, was one of six victims who died on February 9, 2024, when their Eurocopter EC130 crashed near Nipton, California. The tragic event also took the lives of his wife, Doreen Chizoba Wigwe; his 29-year-old son, Chizi Wigwe; former Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, Abimbola Ogunbanjo; and two crew members.
