Remorseful Thief Cries Bitterly After Being Paraded For Stealing N14million MTN Solar Panels [Photos]
Thief in tears after operatives attached to the Ogun police command arrested him and his accomplices in the Atan-Otta area of the state, for allegedly carting away a veritable source of power to MTN mast in area.
As it is a known fact that the mast needs to be on for the entire 24 hours of the day, to service subscribers, a condition the MTN management felt was a task that must be done and decided to install 12 solar power panels for the installation.
Against this well designed arrangement, a gang thieves besieged the site at Atan-Otta with the intent to cart away the entire solar power panels valued at N14 million.
However, having succeeded in dismantling the source of power on Saturday, August 18, 2018, they ran out of luck when a group of vigilante members at Onigbongbo Phase 2 sighted them at about 12.30am on the fateful day and put a distress call across to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the station, SP Abiodun Salau.
SP Salau, led his team of patrol men to the scene and arrested three of the alleged vandals while other members of the syndicate escaped into a nearby bush.
Disclosing this to Crimepuzzle in a press statement, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, gave the names of the suspects as kehinde Yahya, 36, Akeem Ademola, 36 and Taofeek Oladele, 36.
According to the PPRO, the entire 12 solar power panels as well as a Volkswagen bus, popularly known as Danfo marked LND 10 XE, were recovered from the hoodlums.
He further said that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to FSARS for discreet investigation, even as he directed that serious manhunt should be launched for the fleeing members of the gang, with the view of bringing them to justice.
