Former President Muhammadu Buhari celebrated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his 73rd birthday, highlighting their long-standing political relationship.
In a phone call on Friday, Buhari offered his congratulations and prayers for Tinubu’s long life, health, and a successful leadership.
A statement from Garba Shehu, Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, pointed out Tinubu’s essential role in the establishment and success of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Buhari recognized Tinubu and other party leaders for their support during his journey to the presidency after numerous failed attempts.
He described Tinubu as a “party stalwart, passionate activist, skilled organizer, builder, loyal ally, and a consistent winner in democratic elections.”
“The annals of this country will not be complete without recognizing the varied and numerous roles of President Tinubu—as an entrepreneur, a party stalwart, a staunch activist, party organizer, party builder, a reliable ally, and a serial winner of democratic elections. I am truly proud of my association with Asiwaju,” Buhari stated.
“When Nigerians handed the baton of leadership to the APC in 2015, it was a mandate to lay the foundation for a new Nigeria, where the poor have opportunities for a better future. I am glad that the vision is not lost. It was a victory for all who wish the country well,” he added.
