Abba Kyari gets released from prison after two years

Abba Kyari, the former head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), has been freed from the Kuje Custodial Centre in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) after spending 27 months in prison.

He was arrested on February 14, 2022, by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for his alleged involvement in an international drug ring.

The Nigerian Correctional Service for the FCT Command spokesperson, Adamu Duza, confirmed Kyari’s release on Friday, May 31, 2024, mentioning that he was released upon meeting his bail requirements.

“DCP Kyari has perfected his bail conditions, and has since been released today,” the spokesperson told Punch.
