A Nigerian man residing abroad has shared a poignant video expresses his frustration regarding his inability to bring his children to visit their ancestral homeland in Africa.
In the video, which he posted on TikTok under the username @55roderick4, he disclosed that he departed from Africa over three decades ago in pursuit of better opportunities in Europe.
Although he has fathered several children during his time abroad, he expressed that financial limitations have hindered him from taking them back to their roots.
The man emphasized that he is not alone in facing this challenge, noting that many Africans living in Europe encounter similar difficulties.
He also reflected on how the “American and European dreams” that once attracted individuals to foreign lands are increasingly becoming elusive for many.
“It has been over 30 years I left my homeland to travel to Europe and seek for greener pastures. For over 30 years, I was able to give birth to many children.
“Now, throughout this period of time, I have not been able to take my children to Africa. Every end of the year, we spend it here in Europe. It is not as if I do not want to take my children to go see their homeland where their parents came from. But the reality is, I don’t have the money to sponsor that trip,” he stated.
