The presiding Pastor of House on the Rock Abuja Chapter, Uche Aigbe, wielding an AK-47 rifle during a sermon has been arrested by the police.
This comes hours after the video of Pastor Uche Aigbe went viral on social media for being in possession of an AK-47 rifle on the pulpit.
According to a report by the Punch, the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory Command, Sadiq Abubakar, recommended that a police officer, Inspector Musa Audu, be dismissed for handing over his rifle to Pastor Aigbe. The Inspector is facing an internal disciplinary trial.
Both Inspector Audu and Pastor Aigbe were arrested by the Intelligence Response Team and the Force Intelligence Bureau in Garki, Abuja, on Monday.
The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has reacted to the trending video of an Abuja pastor carrying an AK-47 while preaching in his church on Sunday, February 12.
A video of the clergyman Pastor Uche Aigbe who is the presiding pastor of House on The Rock Abuja, carrying an AK-47 while preaching got people talking on social media. Some of his church members who came to his defense said he bore the arms just for illustration purposes. They said the weapon was not loaded and that no one in the church was scared.
However, some Nigerians kicked against it saying for whatever reasons he had, it is illegal for him to carry a weapon.
