Actor Kunle Afod, Faithia Williams, others mourns Ayobami Olabiyi

Actors Kunle Afod, Bolaji Amusan, widely recognized as Mr. Latin, and Faithia Balogun have come together to mourn the loss of Ayobami Olabiyi, affectionately known as Bobo B.

The news of Bobo B’s passing emerged on social media on Thursday, with confirmation provided by Bose Akinola, the Oyo State Governor of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN).

Mr. Latin, who serves as the president of TAMPAN, also verified the veteran actor’s death.

In a post shared on his official Instagram account late Thursday, he disclosed that Bobo B had passed away on October 16, 2024.

Mr. Latin characterized Bobo B’s death as a significant loss to the entertainment sector, commending his commitment, leadership, and contributions that have made a lasting impact on TAMPAN and the Yoruba film industry.

He urged the public to remember Bobo B’s family in their thoughts and prayers during this challenging period, calling for a united display of support and resilience.

He stated, “In this challenging time, I encourage everyone to keep his family in their thoughts and prayers. Let us unite as a community to provide our support and strength to one another. May he rest in eternal peace.”

Numerous celebrities and fans took to social media to share tributes and messages of condolence.

Faithia Williams expressed her disbelief, stating, “Hmmm, Bobo B Ha.”

Fausat Balogun also honored the late actor on her Instagram page, sharing a photo of him with the caption, “REST IN PEACE BOBO B,” accompanied by crying emojis.

In a similar vein, Kunle Afod paid tribute to the late actor with a message: “Good night legend. RIP BOBO B. Sun re oooo.”

Bobo B’s death adds to the growing list of Yoruba actors who have passed away in 2024.

Earlier this year, Sisi Quadri succumbed to complications arising from kidney-related issues.

Another Yoruba actor, Dayo Adewunmi, known as Sule Suebebe, also passed away following a brief illness in Ibadan, Oyo State.
