Actor Lateef Adedimeji announces two-part Netflix epic biopic ‘Lisabi’

Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji has revealed the upcoming two-part Netflix epic biopic titled ‘Lisabi’, featuring prominent actors such as Femi Adebayo and Odunlade Adekola, among others.

    The first installment, ‘Lisabi: The Uprising’, is scheduled to debut on Netflix on September 27, 2024, while its sequel, ‘Lisabi: A Legend is Born’, is set to follow in January 2025.

    This biopic highlights the life and enduring legacy of the legendary Yoruba figure, Lisabi, whose contributions have significantly influenced Yoruba history.

    Taking place in the 18th century, the narrative centers around an Egba farmer who leads a revolt against the tyrannical Oyo Empire.

    His courageous actions, which result in the defeat of more than 6,000 Oyo soldiers, ultimately secure the independence of Egba after years of oppression. According to the producers, the film promises a captivating storyline, vibrant characters, and high production standards.

    The project is produced by Mo Bimpe, who is both an actress and the wife of Lateef Adedimeji, and directed by Niyi Akinmolayan.

    It is a collaborative effort between Al Notions Studios and Anthill Studios.

    The screenplay is crafted by Niyi Akinmolayan and Yinka Olaoye.

    The cast of ‘Lisabi’ includes Femi Adebayo, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Itele Yekini, Ibrahim Chattah, Mo Bimpe, Eniola Ajao, Liquorose Afije, and Lateef Adedimeji.
