In other news, A woman known as Madam Stella has allegedly drowned her six-year-old daughter, Rachel, in a river within the Bayelsa community.
Reports indicate that this tragic event occurred in the Ukubie community, located in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state.
Eyewitnesses have stated that the mother, initially searching for her daughter, discovered her playing by the riverside. Despite the mother’s warnings to refrain from playing in the water, the child persisted. In a fit of anger, the mother reportedly pushed the child into the river, resulting in her drowning.
When approached by astonished members of the community, Stella admitted to the act and pleaded for forgiveness.
“I regret my actions. I never knew it would happen this way,” she said.
A family member, Jeph Nation, expressed his devastation over the incident.
“I have recorded two deaths already in my paternal family at Ukubie this year. All were painful and heart-touching, but this one was so pathetic,” he said.
