Tyrese Gibson was taken into custody after he failed to pay the monthly $10,000 child support payments that a court ordered him to provide to his ex-wife Samantha Lee.

According to TMZ, Gibson, who has a five-year-old daughter named Soraya with Lee, was found in contempt of court on Monday morning at a hearing in Fulton County.

According to the TMZ, Judge Kevin Farmer was displeased with Gibson’s unwillingness to make the monthly $10,000 child support payments that he was ordered to begin in April 2023.

Farmer cited Gibson for contempt of court on Monday, and the bailiff handcuffed him and led him out of the courthouse, according to TMZ.

The judge offered Gibson the chance to resolve the issue and avoid jail time if he paid $73,000. That figure includes Samantha’s attorney fees, which total $7,500.

The Fulton Country Public Information Officer has since shared with The New York Post that Gibson was ‘released’ after he was ‘temporarily detained’ for being in contempt of court.

The Director of Communications at the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office also confirmed with the publication that the actor is not in custody.

Gibson wed Lee in 2017 and a year later they welcomed their daughter Soraya. In 2020 they announced they were ending their marriage.

Tyrese was previously married to Norma Gibson with whom he has 17-year-old daughter Shayla Somer Gibson. The couple divorced in 2009.
