Actress Deborah Ewedafe shares how she was scammed N6m at Cinema

  • Nollywood actress Deborah Ewedafe has admitted to being scammed of N6 million by a cinema that provided her with fake film premiere dates and documents.
    • Ewedafe, in an interview on Kunle Afod’s YouTube channel, revealed that she was deceived out of N6 million by fraudulent individuals who falsely promised to assist her in securing a cinema release.

    Nollywood actress Deborah Ewedafe has disclosed her experience of being defrauded of N6 million by a cinema that provided her with counterfeit dates and documents for a film premiere.

    In a discussion on Kunle Afod’s official YouTube channel, Ewedafe shared that she fell victim to scammers who falsely assured her of assistance in securing a cinema release for her movie.

    During the conversation, Ewedafe recounted how she was encouraged to produce films for cinemas as a means to recover her investment.

    She noted that she was unaware of the complexities involved in the process, which led her to make significant financial commitments to the movie project, ultimately resulting in her being deceived.

    In her words;

    ” I was advised to venture into movie production for cinemas in Nigeria. However, while trying to do this, no one warned me that it was difficult and that there were certain procedures and processes to follow.”

    “Out of ignorance I was invited and after the production, I suffered a huge loss while trying to sell it to cinemas”.

    “The movie is still not out. When we finished the entire production and took it to the cinema, I was scammed. they kept giving me fake assurances and even fake release date. I spent about N6 million on fake processing and papers.

    “Eventually, when the date arrived and the movie was still not showing, it dawned on me that I had been duped” she revealed.
