Veteran Nollywood actress Dupe Jayesimi has shared her heartbreaking experience with childlessness, revealing how the pain led her to alcoholism and deep emotional struggles.
Speaking on Biola Bayo’s podcast, Jayesimi recounted how her inability to conceive contributed to the collapse of her marriage. Despite undergoing IVF twice, she was unable to have a child.
-She revealed she got married while pregnant but sadly suffered a miscarriage.
-Another pregnancy at 40 years old turned tragic when doctors discovered it was ectopic (outside the womb).
-Her ex-husband emotionally distanced himself, even placing pillows between them in bed to avoid contact.
-Just two weeks after she left the marriage, a pregnant woman moved in with her ex-husband, leaving her devastated.
Beyond her marriage, Jayesimi also faced heartbreak when raising children that weren’t hers:
-She raised her younger sister’s child, but on the wedding day, her sister reminded her that the child was not hers.
-She resorted to excessive dancing at events to mask her deep pain and depression.
Jayesimi admitted that her sorrow pushed her to alcoholism, but she has since found ways to heal.
Her emotional story has sparked conversations about infertility struggles, societal pressures on women, and the stigma of childlessness in marriage.
