The legendary Nollywood actress Hilda Dokubo has fiercely denied ever being suspended as a member of the Labour Party (LP) at her ward in Asari Toru local government area (LGA) of Rivers state.
Dokubo, who is also the LP chairwoman in Rivers, was suspended on Thursday after the party’s ward executive committee had an emergency meeting on July 15. This news put her in the center of a storm of controversy.
The veteran actress was charged with a long list of serious offenses, including financial misconduct, abuse of office, and egregious violations of party regulations.
Ajalamonia Ibama, the ward chairman, Lole Amacheer, the treasurer, and Emmanuel Ibamathe signed a letter purportedly sent to the LP chairman of Asari Toru, indicating her suspension.
But Dokubo shot back at the accusations in a fierce and combative video that she shared on Instagram, insisting that she was never suspended from the Labour Party.
Not content to simply reject the suspension, she proceeded to reveal what she described a sinister plot against her.
Determined to damage her reputation, Dokubo openly asserted that the names on the fictitious suspension letter were all Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) members.
She disclosed a string of devious acts committed against her, claiming she had been threatened, bought off, and blackmailed; however, these claims were really a fresh, malevolent ploy to undermine her.
Dokubo described the ceaseless attempts to discredit her and her position with unflinching conviction.
She presented a clear picture of political scheming and personal grudges, with PDP opponents and alienated Labour Party members masterminding a deceitful campaign to damage her reputation and drive her from the political arena.
