Olayinka Adebanjo, a Nigerian actress, has expressed her profound sorrow over the passing of her only child, who died at the age of 28.
During a recent episode of the Talk2B podcast, the actress recounted the tragic incident involving her son, Adeniyi Ishola, a nurse who collapsed and died while playing football.
While she did not disclose the exact date of his passing, Adebanjo shared that she has endured mockery and painful remarks from others, with some referring to her as an “old age barren woman.”
The actress articulated her longing to become a mother once more, emphasizing her wish to bear a child rather than pursue adoption.
She mentioned that she has previously considered adoption but is now looking into medical options that may assist her in conceiving.
Additionally, the actress reached out to her fans for support, seeking assistance in exploring various medical avenues.
“I have seen a lot after the loss of my son. I have seen someone abuse it to my face that I am barren in old age. My son Adeniyi Ishola went to school to study nursing and graduated. It now came to a time when I was supposed to enjoy the fruit of my labour. He went to play football and slumped,” she said.“I have gone to where they adopt children at Abeokuta. I have spent a lot of money. That was where I was told to go for different medical tests and I have their receipts. Biola please have mercy on me. I do not want to be barren in my old age. I want to carry my child. I do not want to carry another person’s child.
“Nigerians please help me. Whatever it is you can do for me. I do not want to die suddenly. Talk2B I am begging you to please do whatever you can for me. Have mercy on me.”
The host subsequently proposed that Adebanjo explore the option of surrogacy, which would entail an expense of approximately N20 million.
“I do not know how we are going to help Aunty Yinka. I want to advise surrogacy because of her age. All I need is just resources. With N15 to N20 million we can do this,” the host said.
Adebanjo began her acting career in 1983 during her time in secondary school. She is well-known for portraying radical characters in Yoruba films.
