In other news, Lawal Nasiru, a Nigerian singer and skit creator. Michael Bolaji, often known as Nasboi, has spoken out about the country’s End Bad Governance protest.

After Nigerians came to the streets on August 1, 2024, to begin a 10-day march against economic hardship, some celebrities broke their silence.

Nasboi, the Umbrella crooner, was one of many who shared his thoughts on his official X page, eliciting conflicting reactions from netizens. The musician made it clear that he would not be joining the demonstration. He didn’t stop there; he said that his motives were linked to his 2023 election experience.

According to Nasboi, he received numerous threats for supporting Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential race, and when he posted the threats online, people laughed at him. In a subsequent tweet, he stated that, according to popular belief, most celebrities do not make money from politics. He wrote:

“Me, protest? Lol. The last time I spoke up, dem use threaten wan finish my life. I come tweeter come post the dm’s of threats, Na laugh people dey laugh for here. A lot of celebrities don’t get money off politics like you insinuate. Buh na just fear of being a scape goat.”

Nigerians responded differently to Nasboi’s excuse for not participating in the End Bad Governance demonstration.
