In other news, Joseph Aloba, the father of the late Nigerian singer Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, has spoken out against those trying to profit from his son’s untimely death.

On September 11, 2024, after a court hearing about Mohbad’s death, Joseph shared his feelings with reporters, showing his anger at how people are using his son’s memory for financial gain.

In a video, he mentioned the upcoming one-year memorial for Mohbad, who passed away on September 12, 2023, at just 27 years old. He expressed his deep sorrow, saying he still cries whenever he hears his son’s songs.

He strongly condemned those trying to make money from the first anniversary of his son’s death, expressing anger towards anyone he believes is trying to take advantage of this sad time.

He stated that these people and their families would suffer greatly, stressing that this moment should be about remembering and seeking justice, not profit.

He said:

“I talked about Mohbad’s first death anniversary and how it’s in two categories. Some people want to use the death of a 26-year-old to make money. When I pass and his song is playing, I shed tears. So if somebody has decided that his death anniversary is an opportunity for them to make money, they and their family will suffer from leprosy. This is the time to remember that it has been one year, and we still haven’t gotten justice.”
