The Super Eagles of Nigeria will play Algeria in the semi-final of the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Sunday, July 14th.
Nigeria had defeated South Africa 2-1 in a quarter-final clash at the AFCON on Wednesday with Algeria needing a penalty shoot-out to beat Ivory Coast on Thursday.
William Troost-Ekong’s 89th minute winner gave the Super Eagles of Nigeria the win over South Africa to reach the semi-final of the AFCON) in Egypt.
Villarreal youngster Samuel Chukwueze had handed Nigeria the lead in the 27th minute after connecting an Alex Iwobi pass.
Nigeria started off the second trying to get another goal but could not convert some begging chances.

Gistlover.com understands that William Troost-Ekong then secured the match for Gernot Rohr’s men in the 89th minute of the clash to send his team to the semi-final of the competition.
On the other hand, Algeria won 3-4 on penalties after normal and extra time ended 1-1 in the evening.
The Fennecs drew the first blood in the clash with a Sofiane Feghouli 20th minute strike.
Ivory Coast who won the competition in 2013 then leveled the score via Jonathan Kodjia in the 62nd minute.
Nigeria and Algeria last met in 2017 during the qualification series for the World Cup.
The Eagles secured a 3-1 win over their North Africa foes in the first leg while the return encounter ended 1-1 (although Algeria were handed three points and goals as Nigeria were deemed to have fielded an ineligible player).
