Only one week after gunmen attacked traders returning from a market in the Heipang town of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, in Plateau State the bandits have killed two more traders.
According to reports, the latest victims, all women, were returning from Kinat Community when they were ambushed by bandits on Friday evening.
Kinat Community is located in Halle Ward, which is part of the neighboring Mangu Local Government Area.
Moses Jat, a trader who fled the raid, confirmed the killings to The PUNCH in Jos on Saturday.
Jat said, “Fulani herdmen attacked some women of kinat community coming from the market yesterday (Friday) evening. They killed two people and two other persons also sustained injuries.
“Those who were injured are currently receiving treatment in the hospital. But the question is what exactly did this people want that they are attacking even traders who were returning from the market? It is by the Grace of God that some of us escaped the attack.
Captain Oya James, the media officer for the Military Taskforce in charge of preserving peace in the state, could not be able to comment on the incident when called by our correspondent since his phone line had been turned off.
Attempts to communicate with the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alabo Alfred, about the event were also futile because his phone rang when he was phoned.
