The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, has confirmed the death of Nollywood actor Junior Pope, hours after denying his death.
The actor and several of his crew members were engaged in a horrific boat accident near Asaba, sparking an outpouring of emotions following the revelation.
While many speculated about Junior Pope’s drowning, Emeka Rollas stated in a now-deleted post that the actor’s health was stable.
However, in a subsequent message, the AGN president apologised for any mistake while confirming the death of the actor and three others who remain missing.
According to Emeka Rollas, his initial post was prompted by enthusiasm after detecting movements in Junior Pope’s hands.
He went on to say that he was brought to two hospitals in Asaba, where attempts were made to resuscitate him, but none were successful.
In his words; “Its so so sad that our joy was short-lived. My first post was out of excitement when we noticed his tingling fingers. Two notable hospitals tried their best to revive him but to no avail. God knows the best. We finally lost him. Mr Friday corpse has been identified but three other corpses are yet to be found.”
