Governor of Ondo state, Rotimi Akeredolu, has won the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the state’s gubernatorial election scheduled to hold on October 10, 2020.
Akeredolu who is seeking a second term in office, secured the highest votes in the state’s APC governorship primaries which held at Dome in Akure the state capital yesterday July 20 into the early hours of today July 21.
While announcing Akeredolu as the winner of the exercise, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi and chairman of the APC primary election committee, said Akeredolu polled a total of 2,458 votes while Olusola Oke his closest rival polled a total of 262 votes to come second and lsaacs Kekemeke who came third polled 19 votes.
Over 3,127 delegates voted in the election.
Four of the 12 aspirants who indicated interest in the election, had earlier stepped down for Akeredolu.
They are Ife Oyedele, Abraham Olusegun, Jimi Odimayo and Nathaniel Adojutelegan.
